Atomic MRX Ultra Tip – Lowering Rear Ride Height

Like most MRX Ultra owners, I’ve been waiting for Atomic to release springs for their flagship car. While we are getting new springs for the sides, the company said this week that Ultra owners should use the rear springs from the MRX Master.

The Master springs are longer and wider than the stock spring so I was curious to see how well they would work.

Right off the bat, I had some issues getting the Ultra’s ride height down to where I had it before, which was around 2mm. The only way I was able to come close was to barely screw on the spring tension nut.

And here’s the tip: If you’re running into ride height issues, you can use the plastic bearing hub from the MRX Master to easily drop it by about 0.5mm. You’ll want to make sure that the bearing is at the top and not the bottom. Otherwise the ride height will be even higher.

With these bearing hubs, I was able to screw the spring tension nut on a bit further while keeping the pod flatter when the car is sitting on the ground.

I put a few hundred laps on the car today using both the white and yellow springs. The yellow seems to be stiffer than the stock spring while the white is a bit softer. Right now I’m leaning towards the white spring or staying with the stock one.
